![]() It is something you’ve known for years and years, and, just like with people, sometimes when you live with something for years and years it’s hard to see the changes that take place over time. Why, then, should you get rid of your old sofa and replace it with a reclining version? First of all, you don’t have to do anything – but we like to think there are a couple of great reasons for upgrading a years-old piece that you may not have considered up until now: Even when you are home alone and spread out across its length, watching shows or movies or taking a nap, it feels like a familiar friend who knows just how you like to relax. The people you have over for parties or hangouts have never once complained about the comfort of it, a sign that it is reliable for seating a wide variety of people. You’ve been living with it for the past x amount of years, and it’s done (and continues to do) its job. You have a traditional sofa – and you’re comfortable with it. (An example of an exception to the rule when it comes to a person’s size: fewer adults can fit into a loveseat than children!) What Difference Will a Reclining Sofa Make? There are exceptions to the rule, especially when it comes to the sizes of the people being seated. The one difference between them is size: while sofas typically seat three people, loveseats typically seat two. Sofas and loveseats are similar in that they provide an efficient and comfortable place to seat more than one person. While not as common, reclining sofas can also include extendable footrests. Certain styles will contain center consoles for storing remotes, books and what-have-you’s. Framework of Reclining SofasĮach reclining sofa comes with a backrest, armrests on either side and seats. Power reclining uses power – either through an electric wall outlet or battery. Manual reclining does not use power, and instead operates with the use of a lever and physical force. ![]() There are two main types of the reclining function: manual reclining and power reclining. A chaise is great for when all you want to add is a single seat – but want something with more panache than the traditional accent chair.
